The decoration work on the blade is made with multilayer art etching by brush. Inside there is a buttleship 'Poltava' in front of the Petropavlovskaya fortress. At the top to the right of a ship there is the respective inscription. Outside there are the stamp of master, the emplem of workshop 'MEZHOV' and the date.
The name of the knife became clear, if remember that the day of location Petropavlovskaya fortress is considered the day of St. Petersburg foundation. And 'Poltava' is the first buttleship of Baltic navy and the first ship which was built in St. Petersburg. Peter I took part in the building of it personally.
